On Monday July 23rd Garrett and I were sitting in the basement of my sister Mariah's house talking about what we wanted and where we both saw the relationship going. After a couple of hours of talking we both realized that we were both on the same page and wanted the same things. Garrett asked me if I wanted to marry him and I said yes, so I guess this is when we became un-officially engaged. We called both of our families to let them know that we had decided to get married and they all were very excited for us. The next day during Garrett's lunch break, he ran to a jewelry store to get the ring. He sends me a text that says I got you something and asks if I want to go out after work. So obviously after reading this I got really excited and expected to get the ring that night. Then a little while later he sends another text saying they wouldn't be able to put the stone in until later. This made me a little disappointed since I wouldn't be able to see my ring that night but I knew it would be coming soon so it was fine. That evening when Garrett got home from work he came out to Grantsville and asked if I wanted to go for a ride, so we went up a canyon in Tooele and stopped at a little pull off. He got a blanket out of his car and we hiked up the mountain a little ways until we found a semi-flat spot to lay the blanket out. We sat down and started talking. After a couple of minutes, when Garrett couldn't wait any longer, he got on one knee and started telling me why he wanted to marry me. I could hear in his voice the nervousness, it was so cute. Then he pulls out the ring and officially asked me to marry him. I said yes of course. When I saw the ring I was shocked!!! It was EXACTLY what I had always wanted. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!

Foster the People Concert & Camping
Three days after our 4th of July festivities Garrett and I went to the Foster the People concert at Saltair. Before this I had only ever been to country concerts so this was a little different. It was a really fun and energetic concert. Kimbra opened first for Foster the People. She was pretty good. While she was performing she made these crazy faces, so that kept us pretty entertained. Mayer Hawthorne performed next and wow that was a fun part of the concert. He is a great performer. He was rocking a red suit! It was awesome. Next it was time for Foster the People. Before the concert I didn't even know what songs they sung other than pumped up kicks. That was the only one I knew, but it was still fun. They have a ton of energy. So like I said before, I had only ever been to country concerts where you sit in a chair or maybe stand up at your chair. This concert on the other hand was totally different. When it started everyone was standing pretty close to each other and as the night progressed the crowd got closer and closer eventually to where people behind are pushing us forward and the people next to us are pushing us to the middle. It got very hot in there, but it was actually very fun. When one person started jumping everyone started jumping because we all were pretty much connected! By the end of the concert I was definitely ready to sit down and relax and get off my feet.
Garrett and I are in this picture somewhere!
Garrett invited me to come camping with him and some of his friends the next weekend and i figured it would be fun to meet some of his friends. We were camping up Provo Canyon at Deer Creek I think. We just stayed one night but it was fun to go and relax. All the food was prepared by his friends before hand so we seriously went and relaxed. Also Im not much of a camper, I don't love the idea of sleeping in tents cause I always freeze and its never very comfortable, and I don't love using the campground bathrooms, but at least we did have flushing toilets. However, this was probably the most comfy camping trips because we brought Garrett's love sac. It was amazing cuddling up on that around the campfire while everyone else was sitting on their camp chairs or a log. Anytime we got out of the love sac, one of Garrett's friends would jump in it for a few seconds until we came back. What a great idea it was to take it with us!

4th of July
I LOVE the 4th of july!!! Going to parades, eating lots of food at BBQs, lighting fireworks and then watching a cities firework show. Garrett told me that he never went to the parades on the 4th so I invited him to come meet some of my siblings and celebrate with us. We went out to Grantsville to celebrate with my sisters. To start off we went to the parade, and although Grantsville's parade is not the best it is still a fun tradition to go watch the floats and sent the little kids to the front so we can get some candy!! After the parade was over we went over to one of my sisters neighbors house for a BBQ. Mmmm....I love bbq foods, hamburgers & hotdogs, chips, salads, watermelon and for dessert rootbeer floats! We sat outside and soaked up some sun while we ate. After lunch thats when it all started... I GOT SICK and was in a lot of pain! this is when Garrett had the great idea to drug me. He gave me one of my sisters pills....Percocet! That is one crazy drug!!! First it knocked me out for a good 3-4 hours. I mean it was probably the best nap I have ever had but it took Garrett and my sister to wake me up. Once I was awake I was still all foggy and was having problems focusing and walking. Garrett pretty much walked me back over to the neighbors house and sat me down so we could go light off the fireworks that we had bought before the cities firework show started. As we were watching the Grantsville fireworks show, I remember trying to focus on the fireworks but having such a hard time. I now think of this experience as a test to see if Garrett was going to stick around or RUN. I'm sure I gave him plenty of craziness to cause him to run away but he stuck around and still wanted to be with me. Thats when I knew he was a keeper!!! Overall it was a really fun day, at least the day that I remember.
